Hello, fellow earthlings! You won’t believe what happened today! I got my first request! From my baby sister…-.- Anyway…Her wish was a review about her favorite car: the Chevrolet Camaro.
I’m sure when I say ‘Camaro’, it rings a bell for everyone. The history of the Camaro is a rather long one, so I’ll try to tell the short story: The first Camaro ever was reviled on September 29, 1966, as a competing muscle car against the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Charger. All together, there are 5 generations of the Camaro. The most successful ones are the 1st, 2nd, and the 5th. The 1st because it’s the classic muscle car of the west, the 2nd generation 1971 Camaro SS350 was even a proud owner of a place in the top 10 best cars in the world, and the fifth is one of the most popular modern muscle cars today. The fifth and second generation Camaros even got a part in Transformers as Bumblebee, as many of you know.
The standard Camaro comes with a 3.6 L 304 bhp V6 with a 6-speed manual transmission and RWD. Which is not much for a muscle car, but you can have a standard Camaro for only 24 thousand dollars! Fortunately, Chevrolet made an SS version, which has a 6.2 L V8 with 426 bhp monster under the bonnet. Now that sounds more like it, right? The SS costs about 35 thousand dollars and goes from 0-100 in under 5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h. Of course, there are much more versions of the Camaro, but these are the basic ones. The Camaro SS is still the competition car for the Mustang and the Charger. Personally, as a muscle car kind of guy, I love all three. Choosing between these three cars, is like choosing between long socks and short socks. It doesn’t really matter. It’s only about the preference. You have to be “that kind of a person”. But if I had to choose, I’d go for the Mustang. And there is only one main reason for that: history. The Mustang was always….more, than a car for me. It was a way of life, even when the Mustang was worse in some ways than the Charger or the Camaro. You see! If you are that kind of a person, there is no chance of changing your mind. This is why I love muscle cars. You can find out a lot about someone, if you find out which muscle car does she or he love.
So this is my opinion of the Camaro SS: I love it, but I wouldn’t choose it over the Mustang. And I’m very interested in which car would you choose! So please leave a comment on which muscle car would you choose and why? And on which car should I review next time… 😉
